The same natural features that make Oregon one of the U.S.’s most scenic states also make it an irresistible destination for adventure seekers. On the coast, hikers can hunt for treasure on a steep trail up Neahkahnie Mountain. According to Tillamook legend, the mythical fortune is protected by a ghost. In the Eastern portion of the state, there’s a much tougher climb. Steins Pillar is a vertical,  350-foot remnant of a volcano that only professional rock climbers should attempt to scale. 

In between, there’s Willamette Falls, the second largest waterfall in the U.S. by volume (following Niagara), and Crater Lake, the deepest lake in the country. The Oregon Caves are home to the only subterranean Wild and Scenic River in the U.S.—the River Styx.
